Experience

I have been a Chemistry TA for two years (mostly paper grading) and a statistics TA for one term. SAT Overall Score: 1950 I would like to be a tutor because I feel qualified to do so and believe that I would be a valuable asset. Helping someone to learn a subject helps to solidify learned knowledge on both ends; I hope to keep myself up on what I have learned throughout my collegiate career while helping others. In regards to the subjects I have listed to tutor for, I have taken classes that I feel qualify me to teach and guide others. Given my majors, biology, chemistry, psychology, and science are right in line with my academic path. I have taken calculus based physics (along with calculus) and feel comfortable tutoring algebra students. As far as writing, I have done sufficient academic writing in upper-division courses to allow me to profess the experience to tutor this subject. Although this doesn't work directly into any of these subjects, I have presented research at the American Chemical Society National Conference the past three years. My research deals with spectroscopic analysis of pyrrolizidine alkaloids.

Hobbies

I have a wide spread of interests that include academic and extra-curricular pursuits. In high school I was involved in athletics, lettering four years in track and football. I am interested in running track again next year. I am an active member of the rock climbing club here at Eastern Oregon University. I enjoy many genres of music and am hoping to pick up drums soon, as I have not played since high school. To help curb my desire to play, I have been taking an african hand-drumming class at EOU. I have visited over 30 states in this country and have taken multiple trips abroad, to visit places such as Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Japan (among others). In time, perhaps during the summer following graduation, I plan to head back to Japan.
